Marriage?
Have you listened to the conversation between Aunt May and her nephew concerning his taking "the big step" in the movie Spider-Man 3? Before giving Peter her own engagement ring to give to MJ, she asks him a question.
Aunt May: "A man has to put his wife before himself. Can you do that Peter?"
Peter responds: "Yeah, I think I can."
